People

At By-The-Park, we are nurturing a CHILD:

  • Citizen of Tomorrow
  • Holistic
  • Inquisitive
  • Love for Learning
  • Determined

We create opportunities and spaces, for children to play and build experiences, encouraging thinking routines, curiosity and learning.

Through discovery and unpacking, these young minds learn to connect their lessons to the world around them, preparing them to be future-ready.

BTP Village

Teachers

As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. Our teachers are a mix of different ages, backgrounds and races, but bound by one belief – to create the best experiences and memories for each child and family that comes into our circle.

Families

At the heart of every relationship is open communication. Our families are a big part of our By-The-Park Village. From daily drop-offs, Curriculum Tea sessions, to field trips, every touch point is an avenue to connect and build shared memories.

Excursions and celebrations fill our yearly Calendar of Events and we actively tap on parents as volunteers. They are hands-on in the children’s experiences, forming friendships of their own with other parents and peers.

At By-The-Park, our Village grows not by numbers, but in strength and heart.

Community Partner

St John’s Home for the Elderly

What started as a social initiative to build social awareness and show our children what care and empathy looks like, turned into a beautiful long-standing relationship.

The termly visits to St John’s Home for the Elderly became something our Kindergarten children looked forward. Our little carers started out doing acts of service for the elders but they gained far more. They picked up knowledge on gardening, handicraft and learned songs from the good old days. Being respectful and empathetic were fruits of the bond which the children shared with their “grandparents”.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, our teachers devised a joint art project which the children and elders worked on together despite the stopped visits and distance. Titled “Project Moon”, our children and the elders took turns to create an art piece together. Our young ones thoughtfully created 3-D materials and cut-outs for the elderly to use on the canvas. The project lifted the spirits of the residents at St John’s who were feeling isolated at the time, and provided them a creative outlet and a simple activity to boost their dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

The art piece is now proudly on display at St John’s Home of the Elderly, showcasing that friendship has no barriers, age or distance.

At By-The-Park, we look into every aspect where our children can learn. From this community partnership, an unexpected bond grew, allowing us to harvest precious treasures.

Our Ta-Dah Programmes

BTP Ta-Dah Programmes

In all we do, we place the children first. Our learning experiences are designed to tap on our children’s innate ability to play. Through play, our little explorers learn to connect and gain wider perspectives.

Ta-Dah Programmes

  • Junior Food Detective
  • Mess and Make

Junior Food Detective (JFD)

Children learn about the discovery process of food; from when it is first purchased to when it is consumed. This process enables them to understand the importance of healthy eating and that food has an impact on their physical and socioemotional wellbeing.

JFD aims to:

  1. Promote healthy eating habits and encourage children to try a variety of food.
  2. Raise awareness on sustainability and practices such as reducing food wastage.
  3. Allow children to explore and investigate properties of fruit and vegetables and the cooking process where they learn how to problem-solve, ask questions and take risks.

Mess & Make

“Oh what a glorious mess!”

Our little ones learn best when they play, especially when it is self-motivated, freely chosen and they are actively engaged. The process in their Mess and Make play experiences is hands-on, thus heightening their 5 senses. Through the sensorial experience, children foster curiosity, creativity and imagination.

Through this programme, we introduce children to Art, and the basic elements of art such as colours, shapes, lines and textures. It also expands a child’s vocabulary and expressions.

Benefits of Mess and Make

  1. Provides opportunities for children to express what they see, touch, hear or feel.
  2. Provide children with the space and time to encounter the elements of art.
  3. Children are free to express with minimal adult intervention.
  4. The art creation is entirely the child’s own, giving him his First-time in creating and owning.

Events

Excursions

Excursions and field trips are big part in our activity calendar. We believe that learning takes place beyond a classroom.

Parents are also invited to participate through volunteering where they see first-hand what goes on in their children’s learning experiences.

Some of our regular excursions:

  • Fire station visits
  • Botanic Gardens walkabout
  • Plays and performances
  • A Day at a Chinese Opera and Drama school

Celebrations

At By-The-Park, we always look forward to celebrations and having a good time.  Through celebrations, bonds are formed and our children pick up social skills and cultural appreciation. They learn about local culture as well as other nationalities within our community.

Some events we celebrate include Saving Gia, World Water Day, cultural festivals and many more. It is through these celebrations that our children gain greater awareness on reading and literacy, and social issues such as water conservation, pollution and recycling.
